FOR 50 YEARS IN CAUSSADE, LET'S CELEBRATE!

PARTNERSHIP DECEMBER 16, 2021

It all started in 1952 in the village of Montpezat-de-Quercy...

19 years later, in 1971, the company still called APR (Appareillage Professionnel Radioélectrique) specialized in the manufacturing industrial switches. Faced with the arrival of a new and very promising market, the decision was made to develop a new area of business: APEM (Appareillage Electro Mécanique) was born and was to be dedicated to the manufacture of miniature, low current switches.
However, the existing production lines were not compatible with this new area of business, therefore a new site was chosen: the town of Caussade, about 10 km away. From molding and tooling to metal processing and assembly, the new plant was fully equipped to manufacture these small switches.
50 years later, in 2021, APEM is an international company that has been able to evolve to meet the expectations of the very demanding market of human-machine interfaces. Over the years joysticks, LED indicators and panel solutions have been added to the product range. Currently, more than 380 people, out of the 1200 that the group employees throughout the world, work near the initial site of Montpezat-de-Quercy.

In the end of November, APEM invited all its French employees to the launch of a "Call for witnesses" operation which is aimed at collecting documents, photos, and anecdotes on the history of APEM in Caussade. Our hope is to gather these memories in a booklet to save the story of how APEM’s identity was built for generations to come.
